Mental Map

A Mental Map is a personal perception of the world in which one lives. Though a Mental Map often represents the knowledge one has of an area, studies have shown that an individual can create a Mental Map of a place unexplored but thought of. For example, an individual living in Casper Wyoming can have a Mental Map of Time Square in New York even if the individual has never been there. This Mental Mapping of uncharted territory is possible through the preexisting ideas one may possess of a place as well as media influences and the telling of other people's experiences. It was difficult to find an image of this particular map because they really only exist in the minds of us all. As the above image demonstrates however, Mind Mapping, when practiced as a skill, could arguably enhance the performance of the human brain in learning and clearer- more organized thought processes.
